Printing Issues on ACS Lab Computers

We are currently receiving reports regarding ACS lab computers that: 1. do not have any printers showing up in their printer lists, 2. only have certain printers listed, and 3. only have certain printers listed but are no where near the current location. We are currently working on resolving this issue and apologize for the inconvenience.

Critical Computer Security Information

Microsoft released a critical update today. This update needs to be applied immediately. You may have received an email from ResNet requesting residential students to download the latest Microsoft updates.  If you are using a Mac with Windows installed, you should still download the new critical updates released from Microsoft.  In order to protect your computer and keep your information secure, please follow the directions below for your operating system.

Vista:

1) Click on the Windows Start icon

2) Select Windows Update

XP:

1) Click Start

2) Click All Programs

3) Select Windows Update

Critical Network Service Outage

The UCSD campus is currently experiencing problems with critical networking services.  This may affect but is not limited to the following services:

-vpn
-wireless
-webproxy
-resnet registration
-email management tools
-global password change tool

The proper departments in charge of these services have been notified, and are currently working to resolve the problem.  We thank you for your patience.

Planned Cable Modem Outage

UPDATE: (Tuesday, October 7, 2 PM)The planned outage for Wednesday, October 8 will be from 7-9 AM. f your modem is still not working by9 AM,please unplug your modem and plug it back in. If it is still not working after that, please contact the ResNet by email(resnet@ucsd.edu) or by phone (858-534-3227).

UPDATE: (Saturday, October 4, 9 AM) The downtime was started at 8 instead of 7 am – we apologize for the miscommunication. Most of the modems have come back online.

There is currently a problem affecting the Marshall lowers, which is being investigated and should be resolved as soon as possible. Thank you for your patience.

Network Connectivity Issues and Planned Cable Modem Maintenence.

ResNet is currently experiencing some problems causing slow connections sporadically. The problem is being investigated and will be resolved as soon as possible.
